DISTRICT LAY WORKER POSITIONS
The Lancashire District has created three new lay worker positions to increase the overall pastoral support and opportunities for intentional faith development across the District. These are permanent posts and all three staff will be working in the South Fylde Methodist Circuit for two years.
For more details see the posters at the back of church or, for an information pack, employment pack and application form, email email@example.com. The closing date is 12 noon on 24 July 2018 and interviews will be held on 14 August 2018.
Please share this notice with anyone you know who may be interested.
COLLECTION OF FUNDRAISING BOXES
Please return your boxes to church on Sunday 22nd or Sunday 29th July for the quarterly counting. Thank you for your continuing support for our fundraising. If you do not have a box and would like one to support us in this way, please email the church office or speak to Stuart Wrigley.
A QUIZ ...ABOUT US !
During the summer months I would like to compile a quiz about us – i.e. members and friends of Church Road Methodist Church. When complete, the quiz sheets will be on sale to raise funds for our community hub fund. We hope that the quiz will be fun to do and will encourage us all to chat and get to know one another better.
So if you or a family member has an interesting or amusing ‘claim to fame’, please let me know – maybe you were born somewhere amazing, have met someone famous, have eaten something strange/ disgusting , have an amusing photograph of yourself at a special event, have an interesting hobby or play an unusual instrument ......etc etc ! Answers will be revealed at the QUIZZICAL COFFEE MORNING to be held at Church on Saturday 15 September from 10.00 a.m.
Thank you, Lesley Turner (tel: 727267)
UNSOLD FOOD ITEMS
The Tesco table with donated unsold food items that have reached their sell by date but not there use by date will be at the back of the church each Sunday. Please take any items for yourself or to pass on to others. There is no charge but if you wanted to make a donation, it will go to the Benevolent Fund.
CHURCH REDEVELOPMENT SCHEME
You will be pleased to know that on Friday afternoon the formal sale of the land was completed and we expect to see works get underway next week. Please note no one should be entering the former church centre, restaurant, kitchen or parlour until the works are completed.
FROM GROCERIES TO GETAWAYS GO TO EASYFUNDRAISING AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR OUR CHURCH
If you are on-line shopping for a holiday, travel, groceries or anything, please remember to buy through Easyfundraising and help raise funds for our Church. There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation; these include Amazon, John Lewis, Argos, Debenhams, Ticketmaster, Aviva, Marks and Spencer, the trainline, Sainsbury's, holiday companies and so on – it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...
1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/churchrdmethodist/ and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to our church for no extra cost whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and the church will be really grateful for your donations.
USED POSTAGE STAMPS Please do remember to save these after opening your Christmas cards. There is a box at the rear of Church. These help the work of Guide Dogs for the Blind locally.
FLEXIBLE USE OF THE CHURCH
Thank you to all the organisations using the church during the week for their part in keeping our church clean and tidy and ready for use. During the week, chairs are placed round the sides and across the front of the church; please be careful not to put chairs in front of the heaters as this causes the wood to become very hot to the touch and is potentially a safety issue.
To help get the church ready for our Sunday morning services each week we need volunteers to put the chairs back into rows and set up the coffee area at the back of the church. This job takes 3 or 4 people approximately 10 minutes and can be done on Saturday or on Sunday at around 9.30 am, or 9am for Activ8 on the first Sunday of each month. With sufficient volunteers we will be able to set up a rota so you won’t need to commit to doing this every week.
If you are able to help please speak to one of the stewards or email Linda Butcher at firstname.lastname@example.org
KEYHOLDERS - SAFEGUARDING
Would all keyholders please see Anne Mayes as soon as possible in order to sign this year's Safeguarding Form C.
USERS OF CHURCH PREMISES
This is a reminder to users of the Church that the premises must be left in the same condition at the end of the period as at the start. This also includes any furnishings moved, which after use must be returned to their original position.
